Founder & Director's Message

Hello,
I’m MinJung (MJ) Doh, Founder and Director of YOU&ME Psychological and Counseling Services.

Having lived in both Korea and the United States, I came to understand early on how deeply our thoughts, emotions, and relationships are shaped by the cultures, languages, families, and life experiences that surround us.

Working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds deepened this understanding. The same difficulty can carry very different meanings depending on a person’s relationships, culture, and life circumstances. To me, meaningful psychological care begins not simply with symptoms or diagnoses, but with understanding the whole person and the life they are living.

This perspective has been at the heart of YOU&ME since we began in 2016. As YOU&ME has grown, my role has evolved as well. Rather than personally overseeing every aspect of our work, I have increasingly focused on creating an environment where professionals can do their best work, where different areas of expertise can come together, and where we can thoughtfully shape the direction in which YOU&ME continues to grow.

Building a Strong Clinical Community

From the beginning, I have wanted YOU&ME to be more than an organization built around one individual. I wanted to create a place where professionals with different areas of expertise, clinical experiences, educational backgrounds, and cultural perspectives could work together, learn from one another, and collaborate when needed.

Today, YOU&ME brings together professionals from a range of disciplines, including counseling psychology, clinical psychology, mental health, art therapy, and speech-language rehabilitation. Alongside counseling and psychological assessment, our professionals continue to learn from one another through supervision, peer consultation, professional education, and cultural colloquia.

Individual expertise matters deeply. At the same time, thoughtful and consistent psychological care requires more than individual expertise alone. It requires an environment where professionals can do their work well, support one another, and continue to grow.

At YOU&ME, we strive to create that kind of culture—one where roles and responsibilities are clear, questions are welcomed, collaboration is encouraged, and challenges can be discussed openly and addressed together.

Beyond the Counseling Room

Mental health is shaped by much more than what happens in the counseling room.

We live within families and relationships, learn and work within organizations and communities, and are continually influenced by culture and language. For this reason, I believe our work can extend beyond individual counseling.

Alongside counseling and psychological assessment for individuals and families, YOU&ME has worked with schools and universities, companies, public institutions, and organizations in diverse international settings, both in Korea and abroad.

In these collaborations, our goal is not simply to provide a service. We seek to understand the people, culture, and needs of each environment and to work together in developing support that is meaningful and appropriate for that particular community.

Drawing on these experiences, we provide psychoeducation, consultation, assessment, and tailored programs while continuing to build partnerships in Korea and internationally.

Moving forward, we hope to continue supporting individuals in the counseling room while also contributing to healthier environments in which people can live, learn, work, and grow.

What We Hope to Carry Forward

Over the past decade, YOU&ME has changed in many ways. Our team has grown, we have had the opportunity to work with more individuals and families, and the range of services and partnerships we offer has continued to expand.

Yet growth in size is not a goal in itself. What we hope to carry forward is a commitment to professional excellence while treating each person with respect; approaching different cultures and ways of life with openness rather than judgment; providing ethical and thoughtful psychological care; and creating an organization where the professionals who work with us can continue to learn and grow.

These are the values we hope will remain at the heart of YOU&ME as we move forward.

I see YOU&ME as a work in progress. We will continue to learn from our experiences, reflect on what can be improved, and grow with care and intention. Most importantly, we will continue working to ensure that the values we believe in are reflected not only in the services we provide, but also in how we work together.
